A few months ago, my family and I moved into a new (but also very old) San Francisco apartment. Most of the square footage is devoted to the main living areas—which we absolutely love! But our old couch felt way too small in the new living room. With two toddlers running around, I needed something that was not only comfortable and pretty but also tough enough to handle their chaos. We have lots of visitors and love to host, so we needed something that could fill the space and fit our favorite people. Thanks to Instagram, I was bombarded with ads for this couch so indestructible, they were literally dumping Diet Coke on it. After some digging, we decided to visit the showroom. We were ready to make an investment in a couch that could stand the test of time, but buying something like that online just didn’t feel right.
Seeing and sitting on the 7th Avenue couches in person was a game-changer. I was torn between the classic depth and the deep, but since my husband and I are both tall, sitting on the deep version instantly sealed the deal. And picking the fabric in person made a huge difference too. We ended up choosing the Performance Woven Chenille in Oatmeal Beige and I love the texture. It feels soft without feeling synthetic.
The couch’s versatility was the ultimate selling point for me. It’s completely modular, so we can adjust the size, shape, and even the color if we want to mix things up later. If the space feels too cramped, we can break it into two separate pieces or remove sections entirely. The flexibility gave us so much confidence in our decision, especially knowing that we won’t be in this apartment forever.

Another aspect that really worked in our favor, especially living in an apartment, was the way it was shipped. We didn’t have to stress about squeezing it through doorways or fitting it up stairs. The couch arrived in 22(!) boxes. While you can assemble it yourself, I’m so glad we opted for the TaskRabbit service to handle the setup. It made the whole process so much easier.

This couch comes in virtually every size. Here are our exact specs: 7-Seat Modular Chaise Corner Lounger Sectional in Oatmeal Beige and Extra-Deep. The Extra-Deep gives it more of a lounge feel for sure. I have taken my fair share of naps on this couch.

We were deciding between the 5-Seat Modular Chaise Corner Sectional and the 7-Seat Modular Chaise Corner Lounger Sectional. Ultimately, we wanted the flexibility of having another ottoman to add to the end of the couch for more seating, or move it in the middle for more lounging.

The cushions are completely removable and washable. But so far, I have been able to get all stains out with some Folex or the Miss Mouth Stain Spray. The couch also comes with extra “fluff” to add to the cushions if needed. But I haven’t felt the need to do so yet! Like many cloud couches, the back cushions are not connected to the couch. I do wish the back frame was a little higher.

Overall, we couldn’t be happier with our decision. Four months in, and this couch has made hosting friends and family so much more enjoyable—everyone has a comfortable place to sit. I love that I don’t have to be overly protective of it. It’s a beautiful piece of furniture, but I don’t worry about my kids spilling something or causing any damage. It’s exactly what we needed. If you are in the market, I would highly recommend going to sit on a 7th Avenue couch yourself. Feel the fabric and let them help you build what you need. They have showrooms popping up all over the country.
